Software How to Disable Chrome PDF Viewer in Google Chrome (Student)

A common reason PDF hyperlinks do not work in Google Chrome is the Chrome PDF Viewer. To disable:

  1. Type “chrome://settings/content” in the Google browser and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to find PDF documents and click the arrow to open the settings.
  3. Enable the Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome setting.

Note: Chrome PDF Viewer being enabled automatically disables Adobe Reader. Enabling Adobe Reader will also automatically disable Chrome PDF Viewer.

  1. Please contact Technical Support at 1-800-985-9781 if you continue to have problems opening PDF hyperlinks in Google Chrome.
